  • Full-time | Permanent contract
  • London, UK | Ability to travel to US
  • Formally trained
  • UK Drivers a Must!

We are looking for a highly experienced Butler to be based in London for this exciting position for a VIP American family with a central London residence and further multiple residences throughout the USA. Based mainly in London, you will be expected to travel to the US as required and typically the travel schedule will be; January through April and July through August, with a degree of flexibility being required.

The Principal is in the UK between 60-90 days annually, and when he is in London your working schedule will be flexible and based on the Principal's needs. When not in residence and when you are not travelling in the US, your working schedule will be more structured Monday to Friday with normal working hours.

Ideally, this position would suit a mature person with few family ties due to the dedication and flexibility required. You will be an excellent valet with great attention to detail. You will be fast on your feet, trustworthy, flexible and discreet, with the ability to maintain the highest standards at all times. You must be a confident driver for occasional chauffeur duties.

The role will involve all the usual duties associated with a modern-day, hybrid Butler, including but not limited to:

  • general household maintenance (light bulbs, basic interior and exterior DIY, and so on)
  • packing and unpacking
  • valeting clothes
  • driving the principal as required in London
  • looking after and maintaining cars
  • polishing shoes
  • running errands and personal shopping
  • preparing table/bar for entertaining
  • serving guests (silver service)
  • maintaining/organising wines and provisioning
  • working as part of a team alongside a housekeeper, PA and chef
  • helping prepare the house/cars for the Principals' arrival in the UK

An important point to note is that you must have (or be able to obtain) a shotgun license to be able to support the Principal with his pastime of shooting during the season, and be eligible for a US Visa. There also will be an element of driving in this role so you will be confident and happy to drive the Principal when required in London.

The salary on offer is negotiable depending on the right candidate's experience and current earning capabilities, plus your flexibility and hard work will be rewarded throughout the year.

If this sounds like the right role for you then please get in touch, we’d love to hear from you!

Please note that candidates with excellent, checkable references and relevant experience need only apply.
